Restigouche Regional Service Commission Highlights Strong Year of Growth, Collaboration and Regional Impact in 2025

Campbellton, NB – The Restigouche Regional Service Commission (RRSC) has released its 2025 Annual Report during its regular board meeting on May 1st, showcasing a year marked by strong regional collaboration, strategic growth, and meaningful progress across all service areas.

This meeting also represents the completion of the first term following the local governance reform and the last meeting under the current Board of Directors before a new board is formed following the upcoming municipal elections. Gratitude was expressed to all members.

“This past year has once again demonstrated the strength of collaboration across the Restigouche region,” said Chairman Brad Mann. “By working together, with the support of our partners, stakeholders & citizens, we look forward to continued collaboration and shared success.”

Key Highlights from 2025

Planning

  • 292 building permits issued, representing over $27.6 million in construction value and 82 new housing units.
  • Completion and approval of the new Campbellton Regional Community municipal plan and the completion of a rural plan for the new Village of Bois-Joli.

Solid Waste

  • Over 16,200 tonnes of material handled at the transfer station including 920 tonnes of recyclables.
  • Continued awareness of proper waste disposal & recycling, supported by the Recycle Restigouche app and public outreach initiatives.
  • Successful household hazardous waste collection event with more than 250 vehicles in one day.

Tourism

  • Implementation of a tourism marketing strategy and increased promotion efforts.
  • Annual Tourism Forum & enhanced collaboration with communities & organizations.
  • Participated to the organization of regional, national and international marketing opportunities and events. Namely August 15 août su’a plage, the Annual Congress of the World’s Most Beautiful Bays Club and Crankworx Summer Series.

Economic Development

  • Held an HR Forum for employers, followed by the launch of the Connect Restigouche Portal, a centralized hub for businesses, newcomers and citizens.
  • Delivery of workforce development initiatives.
  • Live your best life Restigouche: Many community integration activities for newcomers as well as recognition & retention of healthcare workers.

Community Development & Transportation

  • Over 4,400 transportation drives provided by volunteers to residents for essential services.
  • Continued efforts to support food security, inclusion, financial literacy and community well-being.
  • A first Community Development Forum during the Restigouche Wellness Festival.

Public Safety

  • Strengthened regional collaboration among emergency partners.
  • Continued development and deployment of the Winter Off-Road Rescue Unit, improving response capacity in remote areas.
  • Public Safety Day.
