Reporting to the Director of Economic Development, the coordinator will support her in the implementation of strategies and economic development and regional labor force development activities that fall under the economic development mandate:

  • Supporting investment readiness in the region
  • Supporting a healthy business community
  • Supporting workforce development and labor force growth including the welcoming and retention of newcomers.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

As the Economic Development Coordinator, you will support the Director of Economic Development and will perform various duties, including:

  • Participating to meetings of various committees as required (REDAC, LMP & others)
  • Coordinating the activities of the Committee of Partners for the Community integration of Newcomers
  • Implement identified initiatives, discussion groups with the partners and newcomers ie distribution of welcome kits to employers and organizations, collect data with respect to newcomers, etc.
  • Update the various guides for newcomers
  • Organize activities such as the Welcome BBQ, information sessions, etc…
  • Promote various activities on the Live your best life Facebook Page
  • Implement a mentorship program for newcomers
  • Participate to the activities of other RSC Divisions linked to community integration such as community development, transportation, affordable housing and tourism promotion.
  • Other tasks and actions that could be identified to achieve the objectives for the optimal economic development of the region in collaboration with the RSC’s various divisions.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate for this position will have a post-secondary education in business administration, marketing or related discipline. This person will have relevant knowledge and experience in a professional business environment. The person will have acquired experience in project development. An equivalent combination of Education/Experience may be considered. A very good knowledge of French and English, both verbal and written will be required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Exceptional communication skills, verbal and in writing, ability to be tactful and diplomatic. Comfortable communicating via social media/networks
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task as deadlines and priorities change.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Canva, as well as developing presentations and communication material.
  • Ability to work flexible and non-flexible hours.
  • Have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

Total compensation for this position will be competitive and commensurate with the qualities and experience of the successful candidate and includes health benefits. The usual work week is 35 hours Monday to Friday, however, meetings and events may take place outside of regular office hours from time to time.
