Key Motions Adopted

2026 Budget Adopted – $6,392,874, including:

Loader Purchase Approved – Tender awarded to Paul Equipment for $272,713.88, including extended warranty.

Department & Committee Reports

Cellphone / Internet / Green Energy

  • Resolution submitted to AFMNB to form a cellular service committee.
  • Community Dialogue sessions on green energy and social acceptability planned for mid-November.

Healthcare

  • Meeting held with Dr. Desrosiers and local mayors on Oct. 23.
  • Future leadership meetings with Vitalité and the RSC every two months.
  • The daycare project has been re-opened.

Solid Waste Management

  • 12,013 tonnes handled as of Sept. 30 (including 678 tonnes recyclables).
  • HHW collection event on Oct. 18 drew 250 vehicles.
  • Discussion on commercial recycling and promotion of recycling.

Land Use Planning

  • 251 permits issued in first nine months (69 new units).

Community Development & Transportation

  • Community Development Forum held Oct. 3–5 during Wellness Festival.
  • Regional EVP Plan submitted.
  • Mobile clinic for homeless planned Nov. 19 (in collaboration with Government of Canada).
  • $50,000 community project fund announced.
  • Flex-Go transportation: 3,315 trips (Jan–Sept 2025); 28 volunteers, 82 clients.
  • Bubbles & Gold Gala postponed to spring 2026.

Welcoming & Retention

  • Welcome BBQ: 350+ participants.
  • Sports & Cultural Fair: Sept. 13.
  • Cooking workshops with AMR starting this fall.
  • “Fall in Love with Restigouche” event at Mount Carleton: 50% newcomers.

Economic Development

  • Ongoing Connect Restigouche promotion (launched Oct. 24).
  • Meeting with new Restigouche Chamber of Commerce Director for strategic planning.
  • LMP Committee met Oct. 18.

Tourism

  • World’s Most Beautiful Bays Congress (Sept. 22 week): 34 bays, 17 countries, 110 delegates.
  • Highway signage project moving forward.
  • Tourism coordinator position to be re-posted following Marilyn’s departure (Oct. 24).

Public Safety

  • Committee met Sept. 15; working on an emergency MOU for clear procedures.
  • Minister Gauvin met with municipal officials Oct. 9.
  • Off-Road Rescue Unit training underway for winter season.
  • Letter to be sent to the Minister requesting follow-up actions from his visit.

Other Business

  • Hockey Night in Restigouche: Scheduled for December 5, 2025 – tickets now on sale.
