Campbellton, November 12, 2025 — The Northern Energy Alliance invites residents from northern New Brunswick communities to take part in a series of meetings as part of its Community Dialogue Tour, taking place from November 17 to 20 in the Acadian Peninsula, Restigouche, Chaleur, and Eel River Bar Ugpi’ganjig regions. These meetings aim to foster discussion about renewable energy projects in northern New Brunswick—particularly wind power—and to provide citizens with an opportunity to collectively express their views on the social acceptability conditions of projects that could impact their communities.

Created by the Regional Service Commissions of Restigouche, the Acadian Peninsula, and Chaleur, in partnership with the Eel River Bar and Pabineau First Nations, the Northern Energy Alliance’s mission is to develop sustainable energy projects by and for the communities, on their own terms. This approach ensures that both economic and environmental benefits remain within the regions.

“We believe that the energy transition represents a unique opportunity to build collective wealth while maintaining full control over the development of our territory,”

said Mario Pelletier, President of the Northern Energy Alliance. These meetings provide an opportunity for citizens, elected officials, and local organizations to share their ideas, concerns, and priorities regarding clean energy. The Alliance seeks to build a participatory governance model where communities become partners in projects, rather than being passive recipients.

The public is also invited to share their thoughts and concerns through an online survey available at allianceenergiedunord.ca. The Northern Energy Alliance aims to make northern New Brunswick a model of sustainable and community-driven development, where the energy transition is built upon the voices and visions of its people. The economic benefits generated by these projects will flow directly back into the communities, empowering them to lead new initiatives on their own terms.

The Restigouche Regional Service Commission, the Acadian Peninsula Regional Service Commission, the Chaleur Regional Service Commission, and the Eel River Bar and Pabineau First Nations have formed a community energy production alliance—the Northern Energy Alliance—bringing together all municipalities across their territories.
