Reliable communication is essential to the safety, economic growth, and quality of life of Restigouche residents. The Commission is committed to identifying gaps in cellular coverage across the region and raising awareness about the public safety risks caused by these deficiencies.

We work with private telecommunications companies to find solutions that improve regional service levels and promote awareness of alternative options for cellular and Wi-Fi coverage in remote areas not served by major providers.

We are actively working to:

• Identify and map gaps in cellular coverage throughout the region.
• Raise public awareness of the safety concerns linked to limited communication access.
• Collaborate with telecommunications providers to enhance service in underserved areas.
• Inform residents about alternative connectivity solutions available for remote communities.

To improve connectivity and strengthen communication networks across Restigouche, we are implementing the following initiatives:

• Obtain support from regional stakeholders on the importance of maintaining stable internet and cellular coverage across the territory.
• Lobby federal and provincial governments to maintain pressure on telecommunications companies for improved service.
• Promote existing high-speed internet options available to residents.
